Eucharistic Ministers
St. John the Baptist Church Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist are lay people or religious who are selected by the pastor for this role of service. These people attend an orientation session and are commissioned by the Diocese to serve in their parish. Eucharistic Ministers distribute the Eucharist at Mass as assistants to the priest when other ordained ministers are not readily available. In addition to serving at Mass, some of these ministers may bring the Eucharist to the sick or shut-ins.
All Catholics in good standing, that are high school age
or older are eligible to serve as Eucharistic Ministers.
Training: |
Training is a necessary part of this ministry. Training will provide the opportunity for participants to learn the skills necessary for reverent distribution of communion. Each minister must be willing to undergo the initial training and attend the annual retreat or in-service training as scheduled. |
Anyone interested in considering this ministry is encouraged to contact the Parish Office.
